6/15/2012 — Urge NYS Assembly Members to Pass Library Bills

Three of NYLA’s Legislative Priorities that have already passed the Senate are currently awaiting action by the NYS Assembly.
With the regular Legislative Session scheduled to end next week, it is urgent that library advocates contact their Assemblymembers to urge them to have these bills reported to the floor for a vote.
All three bills would save libraries money by;
– adding libraries to the list of publicly funded entities exempt from the MTA payroll tax,
– allowing public libraries and BOCES to contract for services, and
– removing the current funding disincentive for library system mergers.
Please take action NOW!
