WLS helps Westchester Seniors understand Medicare coverage @ the library.

"A client came in that started receiving social security at 66. She was enrolled in Part A (since that happens automatically) and wasn't taking any medications; the only doctor she'd ever seen was a chiropractor that she paid for out-of-pocket. So when she started to need some additional helathcare - new doctors, new medications - she found that she didn't have any coverage. Now she pays a 10% penalty on Part B for life, as well as her new Part D insurance costs. She hadn't known about either and she was pretty irritated. She was happy with us though. We went over all her options and she knows she got the best, least expensive coverage for her needs. I bet she'll be back every year now to check!" - A SBIC Volunteer
